WELCOME TO YOUR NEW HOME!
To get off to a good start as a student, the first step is to find a place to live. This can sometimes be far from easy. Fortunately, the IAE Poitiers has a few tips...
YOUR BEST FRIEND: LE CROUS
Poitiers – and the Poitou-Charentes region in general – has a lot of accommodation available in around twenty university halls of residence. The CROUS of Poitiers will direct you to this accommodation in traditional or more modern accommodation facilities). In the more modern accommodation, the rent varies depending on the number of rooms and size.
How to request accommodation?
Fill in your (DSE) (student dossier) on the CROUS website. Accommodation is attributed on the same criteria as higher education grants (based on family income and responsibilities).
Attention: The dossier must be submitted before the end of April – that means before you have chosen your future course or passed your end of year exams.
IF YOU NEED A HAND
As a registered student you will often be entitled to a rent subsidy from the CAF (Caisse des allocations familiales) of the department where you live. The amount varies according to the type of accommodation (university hall, private rental, flatshare, hostel), the rent and your resources.
Another system, the "LOCA-PASS" enables grant aided students or employees to obtain a deposit for a rental and an advance on the reservation fee, with no interest or administrative fee.
